1. University of Geneva – Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships

Scholarships to study in Europe can be awarded to students staying at Geneva University for one or two semesters. Stipends are awarded on the condition that the student study one or two full semesters, including exams.

Scholarship awards and stipend amounts are confirmed in the acceptance letter.

2. ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship Program

ETH Zurich supports excellent master’s students to study in Europe with the ESOP scholarships. The Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Program (ESOP) supports students with a scholarship, mentorship, and a network from the ETH Foundation. Scholarships to study in Europe cover full study and living costs during the master’s course.

The ESOP Excellence Scholarship awards an amount of CHF 12,000 per semester to cover different costs, as well as a tuition fee waiver.

ESOP to study in Europe is awarded for the regular duration of the master’s program (three or four semesters). This also applies to the tuition fee waiver.

3. Amsterdam Merit Scholarships

The University of Amsterdam (UvA) aims to attract the world’s brightest students to its international classrooms to study in Europe. Outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA can apply for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS).

Students who hold a non-EU/EEA passport and have applied to a degree program at the University of Amsterdam may apply for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship.

How to apply:
Applications to study in Europe must be submitted to the Admissions Offices of the Graduate Schools. Timeframes for the AMS differ by the college or graduate school. Specific eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and application instructions can be found on faculty or graduate school websites.

Eligible Schools: Child Development and Education, Communication Sciences, Economics and Management, Humanities, Law, Medicine, Psychology, Science and Social Services.

4. Holland Scholarship

The Holland Scholarship is intended for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who wish to do their bachelor’s or master’s degree in the Netherlands and thus be able to study in Europe.

This scholarship to study in Europe is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, as well as various Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences.

The scholarship amounts to €5,000 and is awarded in the first year of studies. However, this is not a full-tuition scholarship.

5. Leiden University Excellence Scholarship (LExS)

Leiden University awards scholarships to study in Europe to excellent students who apply to a full-time master’s program. With the exception of the LLM (non-advanced) and master’s programs at Leiden Law School

Academic Requirements:
Students must have achieved excellent academic results in their previous study programs, which must be relevant to the Master’s program for which they are applying.

As an indication, the student is among the top 10% of graduates in their previous study program.

The LExS is awarded for the duration of the academic program to study in Europe.

Available award levels:
• €10,000 tuition
• €15,000 tuition
• Full tuition fee less statutory tuition fee

LExS is not a full scholarship to study in Europe. Non-EEA LExS recipients are still required to submit “proof of sufficient funds” for their student visa/residence permit application.

6. University of Bologna

The University of Bologna offers deserving international students scholarships to study in Europe.

Students can enroll in the first cycle, second cycle, or single cycle degree programs at the University of Bologna.

These scholarships to study in Europe award: €11,000 gross (Unibo Action 2); tuition fee exemptions (Unibo Action 1). Scholarships and tuition waivers are awarded based on the SAT and GRE, and some TOLC tests, for one academic year.

8. The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program was established by the Hungarian government to promote Hungarian higher education and attract the best foreign students from around the world to study in Europe.

9. HEC Paris

All applicants admitted to the HEC Paris MBA will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships to study in Europe. HEC Paris offers scholarships of more than €1,000,000 in aid each year thanks to the work and donations of the HEC Foundation.

Any candidate who has applied for the MBA Program will automatically be considered for Excellence and Diversity scholarships by the HEC Paris MBA Scholarship Committee. To be considered for the Forte and L’Oreal scholarships, your essay must be submitted at the same time as the application for the MBA program.

Scholarships to study in Europe are awarded in various amounts, and it is the Scholarship Committee that determines the amount of aid that is awarded to each candidate. The committee takes into account many aspects of your application, including your essays, your background and personal work history, your GMAT score, and the results of your two interviews with HEC Paris MBA alumni.

10. Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon

The école Normale Supérieure de Lyon and its partners offer scholarships to international students interested in studying in Europe. The scholarships allow enrollment in its Master’s programs in Exact Sciences, Arts and Human and Social Sciences (except the FEADép Master’s programs). The ENS de Lyon also offers several options to finance studies, with grants and scholarships for master’s degrees or doctorates.

11. Science@Leuven Scholarship

Motivated and talented international students interested in participating in an international master’s program at the KU Leuven Faculty of Science are invited to apply for a scholarship to study in Europe.

The amount of the scholarship can be up to 10,000 euros for 1 year. The Science@Leuven Fund Board will decide exactly how much a grant will be. The scholarship will always cover tuition for 1 year to study in Europe, insurance, and basic health insurance coverage. The amount awarded for living expenses may vary.

Even if a student is awarded a full scholarship of 10,000 euros, it is still advisable to have an additional budget of their own.

Most of the Faculty of Science’s master’s programs are two-year programs. The scholarship for the second year of the master’s degree will only be maintained on the condition that the student has obtained outstanding results in the first year of the master’s degree.

12. Austrian Government Scholarship

The Republic of Austria Scholarship Foundation Scholarship for Undergraduates, Graduates, and Postgraduates invites students to study in Europe.

Some of the benefits of this scholarship are:

13 Barcelona School of Economics

The BSE offers funding to attract and retain the most talented students to study in Europe.

Applicants who receive an offer of admission to the BSE have demonstrated their potential to succeed in the rigorous and intensive master’s programs. The most talented candidates also receive a financial offer that covers all or part of their tuition fees.

This merit-based study in Europe’s funding comes from generous public and private sponsors, as well as from BSE’s own resources.

Each year, the Barcelona School of Economics awards an average of €800,000 in merit grants to Master’s students. About 36% of enrolled students have received full or partial funding to study in Europe.

The types of funding that may be offered to candidates include:
• Waivers covering 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of tuition fees
• A limited number of fully-funded scholarships (100% of fees and some additional stipend, depending on scholarship)
